Deyshonee Much's three-point play in the final minute helped Iona punch its ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
The second-seeded Gaels held off top-seeded Monmouth 79-76 Monday in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament final at Albany, N.Y.
Iona (22-10) is headed to the NCAAs for the third time in five years but the first time since 2013. The Hawks (27-7) are believed to have a chance to capture an at-large NCAA bid.
A.J. English led the Gaels with 19 points. Isaiah Williams had 17 points, Much scored 15, and Jordan Washington compiled 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Je'lon Hornbeak topped Monmouth with 20 points. Justin Robinson scored 14, and Micah Seaborn finished with 10.
