Heat 98, Spurs 96: LeBron James had 35 points and 10 rebounds and Chris Bosh hit the go-ahead 3-pointer as visiting Miami defeated San Antonio to even the NBA Finals at one game apiece.
Bosh tallied 18 points, including the key long-range shot with 1:18 to play, as the Heat bounced back from a 15-point loss in Game 1. Rashard Lewis and Dwyane Wade added 14 points for Miami, which will host Game 3 on Tuesday.
Tim Duncan had 18 points and 15 rebounds but failed to score in the fourth quarter for San Antonio. Tony Parker had 21 points and Manu Ginobili added 19 off the bench for the Spurs, who were 6-of-17 shooting in the final quarter after going 14-for-16 in Game 1.
James scored five consecutive points to give Miami a 90-87 lead before Boris Diaw drained a tying 3-pointer with 4:39 to go. Parker’s 3-pointer gave the Spurs a one-point edge with 2:26 remaining but Bosh drained the go-ahead 3-pointer and later threaded a pass to Wade for a layup that gave the Heat a 98-93 lead with 9.4 seconds left.
San Antonio led by as many as 11 early in the second quarter before Miami recovered and the score was knotted at 43 at halftime. James had 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting in a third quarter that featured 10 lead changes, and Parker’s late basket allowed the Spurs to take a 78-77 lead into the final stanza.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The double-double was Duncan’s 157th in postseason play, tying the record held by former Los Angeles Lakers star Magic Johnson. … Miami has followed up a playoff loss with a victory 13 consecutive times. … San Antonio was just 12-of-20 from the free-throw line with Duncan and Parker each missing a pair during a nine-second span midway through the fourth quarter.
