Trail Blazers 102, Hawks 78: Nicolas Batum scored 14 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds as Portland blasted visiting Atlanta while ending Kyle Korver’s NBA-record consecutive 3-point streak at 127 games.
Mo Williams scored a team-high 15 points off the bench for the Trail Blazers, who also put all five starters in double figures. Robin Lopez and Damian Lillard scored 12 points apiece and LaMarcus Aldridge and Wesley Matthews each finished with 10 for Portland.
The leading scorer also came off the bench for Atlanta as Cartier Martin led the way with 16 points, while Jeff Teague and Pero Antic added 10 apiece for the Hawks. Korver, who last failed to make a 3-pointer on Nov. 2, 2012, his first game with Atlanta, finished 0-for-5 from beyond the arc and the Hawks were 4-for-27 as a team.
The Hawks lost for the 12th time in 13 games and they struggled from the outset, shooting 25 percent from the floor in the first half, their worst shooting percentage through two quarters this season. Atlanta went without a field goal the final three minutes of the first quarter, allowing Portland to take a 29-19 lead.
The Trail Blazers then went cold to start the second frame, opening the door for the Hawks to trim the deficit to four, but Portland tightened up on the defensive end and limited Atlanta to 19 points for the second straight quarter while building a 56-38 halftime lead. The Hawks scored the first four points of the second half to pull within 14 but that was as close as they would get as Portland stretched its lead to 24 entering the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Hawks have lost their last eight road games, their longest such losing streak since dropping the last 13 in the 2006-07 season. … Batum is the fifth Portland player since 1985 to grab at least 15 rebounds in three straight games. … Aldridge, who missed five games at the end of last month with a groin injury, shot 1-for-13, the worst shooting percentage of his career when taking more than four shots.
