Warriors 115, Nuggets 101: Stephen Curry took over in the third quarter and finished with 31 points and seven assists as host Golden State took a 3-1 lead over Denver in the best-of-seven series.

Curry hit six 3-pointers and went 10-for-16 from the field for the Warriors, who will try to close out the series at Denver on Tuesday. Jarrett Jack added 21 points and nine assists and Carl Landry scored 17 off the bench.

Ty Lawson scored 26 points and Andre Iguodala had 19 for the Nuggets, who committed 23 turnovers leading to 33 points. Denver has allowed an average of 118.7 points in the last three games - all losses.

Lawson scored 15 points in the first half of the third quarter to help get the Nuggets within four before Curry took over. The star guard put together one incredible sequence with a deep 3-pointer, a three-point play with a falling left-handed floater over JaVale McGee and an off-balance transition 3-pointer in a personal 9-0 run that put the Warriors back up 88-71.

Curry, who was held to seven points in the first half, added another 3-pointer before the end of the period and finished with 22 points in the final 6:22 of the third quarter as Golden State took a 91-72 lead into the fourth.

Curry was lifted after getting poked in the eye with 9:47 left but returned 4 1/2 minutes later to help the Warriors coast through the final quarter. Denver never got closer than 13 points in the period, and Harrison Barnes’ transition dunk with 4:07 left pushed it to 111-88 as Golden State put it away.

The Warriors used an 11-0 run closing the second quarter to take a 56-44 lead into the break. Golden State leaned on its frontcourt in the opening half and got 12 points apiece from Landry and Andrew Bogut to help cover for Curry’s slow start.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Golden State went 13-for-16 from the field in the third quarter. … Curry’s five 3-pointers in the third marked a franchise record for 3-pointers in a quarter. Since the 3-point line was introduced, no player has hit more 3-pointers in his first four playoff games than Curry’s 18. … Eight teams have recovered from a 3-1 deficit to win a seven-game series in the NBA. The last was the Phoenix Suns over the Los Angeles Lakers in 2006.
