Warriors 99, Trail Blazers 88: Klay Thompson led the way with 24 points and Stephen Curry broke the NBA record for 3-pointers in a season as visiting Golden State handed Portland its 13th straight setback.
Curry hit four 3-pointers en route to 15 points and David Lee collected 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors, who clinched the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. Golden State will open on the road Saturday against the Denver Nuggets in the first round.
LaMarcus Aldridge recorded 30 points and a season-high 21 rebounds while Damian Lillard finished off a strong rookie campaign with 21 points as the Trail Blazers matched the franchise record for consecutive losses set in 1971-72.
The Warriors took an early lead and stretched it to 50-36 at the half by holding Portland to 36.6 percent shooting. The highlight of the first half came with 6:48 left in the second quarter, when Curry took a feed from Carl Landry and buried a 3-pointer to give him 270 on the season - breaking Ray Allen’s single-season record set in 2005-06.
The Blazers chipped away in the third quarter and ended the period with an 11-4 burst to cut it to 66-63 heading into the fourth.
Curry’s 271st 3-pointer pushed the lead back out to 74-67 with 9:18 left before Portland cut it back to a three-point deficit with 7:35 to play. Golden State took over from there, getting a 3-pointer from Thompson and a traditional three-point play from Curry to highlight a 10-2 burst.
Curry added another 3-pointer with 3:56 left before heading to the bench and finished 4-for-11 from beyond the arc.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Curry’s 272 3-pointers came in 53 fewer attempts than when Allen made his 269. … Golden State swept the three-game season series from the Blazers and have swept a franchise-best 11 series in 2012-13. … Lee recorded an NBA-high 56 double-doubles and is the first Warriors player to lead the league in the category since Wilt Chamberlain in 1963-64. … Aldridge and Maurice Lucas are the only players in Portland history with two career 30-point, 20-rebound games.
