Grizzlies 86, Jazz 70: Zach Randolph had 25 points and 19 rebounds as host Memphis defeated Utah to eliminate the Jazz from the Western Conference playoff race.

Mike Conley added 14 points and Darrell Arthur tallied 11 as the Grizzlies (56-26) reached 30 games above .500 for the first time in franchise history. Memphis is the No. 5 seed in the West and opens its first-round series on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Al Jefferson had 22 points and 16 rebounds for the Jazz, who set season-lows for points and field-goal percentage (32.1). Utah failed to make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.

Memphis began pulling away with a 15-2 surge in the third quarter to boost its lead to 65-49. Utah was just 4-for-18 shooting in the stanza as the Grizzlies took a 65-51 edge into the final quarter.

Memphis stretched the lead to 73-53 on a dunk by Arthur with 8:56 to play. The Jazz cut their deficit in half before Jerryd Bayless drained a 3-pointer with 3:55 left and Randolph’s dunk with 2:45 left gave the Grizzlies an 81-67 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Memphis had a 57-47 rebounding edge and grabbed 19 offensive boards. … Utah starting guards Mo Williams and Randy Foye were a combined 4-for-22 from the field. … The double-double was Randolph’s 45th of season. Jefferson posted his 37th double-double for Utah.
