Kings 131, Warriors 127: DeMarcus Cousins scored 24 points and Aaron Brooks hit some big shots down the stretch en route to 23 as Sacramento held off visiting Golden State.
Marcus Thornton scored 19 points off the bench and Jason Thompson collected 10 and 15 rebounds for the Kings, who snapped a five-game slide.
Stephen Curry went 7-of-12 from 3-point range for a game-high 32 points, David Lee scored 29 and Jarrett Jack chipped in 28 for the Warriors, who fell for just the second time in the last nine games.
Golden State battled back from a 15-point deficit and led by as much as 117-114 with 4:33 left. The contest was tied at 118-118 when Curry committed his sixth foul, sending John Salmons to the line for the go-ahead free throw.
Lee turned it over on the next possession, and Brooks and Thornton each hit a 3-pointer from the left wing to make it a six-point edge with just over a minute to play. The Kings sealed it at the free-throw line.
Sacramento took the lead on Brooks’ layup with 7:45 left in the first quarter and began to pull away. The Kings scored at least 30 points in each of the first three quarters and were up 104-90 after Thornton’s 3-pointer with 11 minutes left in the game.
Golden State called a timeout after that shot and came out of that break with a different intensity on the defensive end. Sacramento would go over two minutes without a field goal as the Warriors began to chip away, getting 10 straight points from Carl Landry before Jack and Curry combined for three straight 3-pointers to put Golden State on top 112-111.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Thornton (personal) had missed the previous four games but did not show any rust in going 7-of-15 from the field in 31 minutes. … Both teams shot exactly 50 percent from the floor and combined to go 24-for-45 from 3-point range. … Sacramento improved to 7-7 at home. The Kings are 1-10 on the road.
