Starlin Castro came off the bench to slug two homers and drive in five runs as the host Miami Marlins rallied from a seven-run deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies 19-11 on Friday night.
Isan Diaz added a three-run homer as Miami banged out 19 hits and set a season high in runs. Castro, who has 13 homers this season, went deep twice for the fifth time in his career.
The Marlins, who have the worst record in the National League, rallied from a 7-0 deficit, tied the score with a seven-run third, fell behind again and then produced a five-run fifth.
The Phillies never recovered, and the 19 runs were the second most the Marlins have ever scored at home.
Philadelphia played without star right fielder Bryce Harper, who left the team for Las Vegas, where he and his wife, Kayla, are expecting their first child, a son.
Both starting pitchers were hit hard, but both escaped with no-decisions.
Philadelphia's Vince Velasquez lasted 2 1/3 innings, allowing five hits, one walk and seven runs while striking out two.
Miami's Hector Noesi, who hasn't won a major league game since 2014, went three innings, allowing six hits, three walks and seven runs with two strikeouts.
Noesi got in trouble immediately as Cesar Hernandez led off the game with a bunt single. After Rhys Hoskins was hit by a pitch, ex-Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto hit an RBI double to left. The inning then continued with Brad Miller's two-out walk, and Scott Kingery followed with a three-run triple to right.
The Phillies increased their lead to 6-0 in the second on Corey Dickerson's two-run, two-run double.
In the top of the third, Velasquez picked up a bunt RBI, but he did not complete the bottom of the inning as Miami rallied for seven runs, with Diaz's three-run shot the big blow.
It was Diaz's second major league homer, and it came on a full-count fastball after he had fouled off two consecutive pitches.
Philadelphia surged back on top 9-7 in the fourth, starting a rally with none on and two outs. Pinch hitter Maikel Franco, recalled from the minors on Friday to take Harper's roster spot, and Adam Haseley produced RBI singles.
Miami loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth before pinch hitter Castro's hard grounder down the third base line went off Franco's glove for a two-base error, tying the score 9-9 with one out. Miami then took the lead for good later in the inning when Neil Walker pulled a two-run double to right.
The Marlins added three runs in the sixth and four in the eighth to complete the rout.
Tyler Kinley (2-1) threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the win. Nick Pivetta (4-6) took the loss after surrendering five runs, one earned, in 2 1/3 innings.
