Utley laced a double into the right-center gap against Carlos Torres (2-2) with one out in the 11th and came around two batters later on Byrd's flare into right field. Utley finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and Domonic Brown drove in two runs for the Phillies, while David Wright notched two hits and a pair of walks for the Mets.

Mario Hollands (1-1) worked the 10th inning for his first major league victory before Jonathan Papelbon retired the side in order for his 10th save. Philadelphia had lost six of its previous eight games while New York has now dropped seven of eight.

The starting pitchers combined for 200 pitches despite neither making it past five innings. Roberto Hernandez allowed one run and six hits over five innings for the Phillies, while Mets starter Jenrry Mejia gave up two runs and six hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Curtis Granderson's first-inning double gave New York an early lead before Brown put Philadelphia ahead by driving in Utley with third- and fifth-inning singles. The score remained 2-1 until Daniel Murphy walked against Antonio Bastardo with two outs in the eighth and Wright followed with a hard-hit double into the left-field corner to draw the Mets even.
