Yankees 3, Angels 2: Mark Teixeira hit a game-tying solo homer in the seventh inning and Jacoby Ellsbury scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the eighth as host New York took two of three from Los Angeles.

Masahiro Tanaka allowed two runs and struck out 11 in 6 1/3 innings, Adam Warren (1-1) tossed 1 2/3 scoreless frames and David Robertson worked the ninth for his fourth save. Ichiro Suzuki had an RBI groundout for the Yankees, who won for the first time in nine games when trailing after six innings.

David Freese slugged a solo shot and Erick Aybar doubled and scored a run as the Angels finished their nine-game road trip with a 4-5 record. Garrett Richards yielded two runs on just three hits over seven innings in his third straight no-decision.

Michael Kohn (1-1) took over for Richards to start the bottom of the eighth inning and promptly walked Ellsbury to start the frame, as well as Carlos Beltran one out later. A passed ball advanced the runners and Nick Maronde uncorked a wild pitch to allow Ellsbury to race home with the decisive run.

J.B. Shuck hit a grounder to second with the bases loaded in the fourth to push across the game's first run before Suzuki tied it in the fifth. Freese hit Tanaka's first pitch of the sixth over the wall in right-center, but Teixeira cranked his second of the year an inning later to forge a 2-2 deadlock.
