Cardinals 3, Dodgers 1: Jhonny Peralta doubled in the go-ahead runs and St. Louis received strong work from the bullpen to even the series with host Los Angeles.
Yadier Molina added a tying home run in the fourth and Carlos Martinez made his third straight start, allowing one run on six hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings while stretching out to 82 pitches for the Cardinals. Seth Maness (3-2) followed with 2 1/3 scoreless frames to earn the win and Trevor Rosenthal picked up his 24th save.
Hyun-Jin Ryu (9-4) was charged with three runs and nine hits in seven frames as the Dodgers suffered their third loss in 11 games. Dee Gordon singled in a run among three hits and walked to highlight Los Angeles' offense.
Martinez walked A.J. Ellis leading off the second and Miguel Rojas reached on an infield single before Gordon sent an RBI single to right one batter later. St. Louis left two runners on in the first and third before finally breaking through when Molina lined a 1-0 changeup off the foul pole in left for his seventh home run.
The Cardinals put two on with two out in the fifth when Peralta came through, flying a double to the wall in right-center to plate the pair. The Dodgers got a runner to second base in the eighth but could not come through against Pat Neshek before Rosenthal worked around a walk in the ninth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Dodgers CF Scott Van Slyke was ejected in the sixth inning for arguing balls and strikes and was replaced by Andre Ethier. … Martinez bounced an infield single to the left side in the third inning for his first major-league hit and finished 2-for-2. … St. Louis CF Jon Jay saved extra bases and possibly a run in the sixth when he made a diving catch on the warning track to rob Juan Uribe.
