Astros 7, Angels 2: Jon Singleton homered and had two RBIs in his major-league debut as host Houston handed Los Angeles its season-worst fourth straight loss.

Jason Castro and Robbie Grossman also drove in two runs apiece and Chris Carter added a solo homer for the Astros, who won for the eighth time in 10 games. Singleton drew a bases-loaded walk in the third inning and slammed a shot into the right-center field bullpen in the eighth to finish 1-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Angels star Mike Trout attempted to play after missing back-to-back games but had to depart after 1 1/2 innings when his back flared up. Astros starter Collin McHugh (4-3) allowed two hits over five scoreless innings and five relievers finished up.

C.J. Wilson (6-5) walked three batters to load the bases with one out in the third before Castro singled in two to get the Astros on the board. Singleton drew the fourth walk of the inning to make it 3-0 and Grossman finished Wilson’s night with a two-run single to center.

Collin Cowgill – who replaced Trout – and Josh Hamilton hit eighth-inning homers for the Angels. Hamilton’s blast came in his first game since suffering a thumb injury on April 8. Singleton and Carter hit back-to-back shots off Matt Shoemaker in the bottom of the eighth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Angels sent RHP Michael Kohn to Triple-A Salt Lake and recalled RHP Cam Bedrosian – the son of former National League Cy Young Award winner Steve Bedrosian – from Double-A Arkansas. Cam Bedrosian pitched a flawless inning of relief in his major-league debut. … Houston OF George Springer was named American League Rookie of the Month for May after registering 10 homers and 25 RBIs. … Wilson allowed five runs, six hits and five walks in 2 2/3 innings.
