Royals 6, Indians 4: Pinch-hitter Billy Butler snapped a tie in the eighth inning with a two-run homer as host Kansas City posted its fourth straight victory.
All-Star Salvador Perez went 3-for-4 with a solo blast and Mike Moustakas also went deep for the Royals, who lost four in a row and seven of eight prior to their winning streak. Raul Ibanez delivered an RBI triple and Kelvin Herrera (2-2) tossed a scoreless eighth before Aaron Crow worked around a leadoff double in the ninth for his second save.
Carlos Santana homered twice and drove in three runs while Jason Kipnis added an RBI for the Indians, who have lost five of six. David Murphy collected three hits and Carlos Carrasco (3-4) took the loss after yielding a run and two hits in 1 1/3 frames.
Kansas City grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second as Perez and Moustakas began the frame with back-to-back homers. Santana halved the deficit with a two-out solo blast in the fourth, but Ibanez plated Alex Gordon in the bottom half with a triple and scored on a throwing error by Cleveland second baseman Kipnis to make it 4-1.
Cleveland cut the deficit to one in the sixth as Santana completed his fourth career two-homer performance with a two-run shot to right field. Kipnis lifted a sacrifice fly in the seventh to forge a tie before Butler belted a two-run homer off John Axford in the eighth to put the Royals back in front.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Moustakas' home run was his team-leading 13th of the season. ... Santana's most recent two-homer effort came on Sept. 23, 2012 - also in Kansas City. ... Cleveland SS Asdrubal Cabrera missed his third consecutive game with lower back spasms.
