Royals 7, White Sox 1: Mike Moustakas homered twice and Bruce Chen was solid through five innings as visiting Kansas City evened the series with Chicago.

Raul Ibanez added two hits and an RBI while Alex Gordon and Norichika Aoki each had two hits and a run scored for the Royals, who snapped a four-game slide. Chen (2-2) allowed a run and five hits while walking a pair to improve to 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA in two starts against the White Sox while posting a 0-2 mark with a 7.77 ERA in six appearances against all other opponents.

Scott Carroll (4-6) entered on a two-start scoreless streak but was knocked around for five runs on 11 hits in five-plus innings for Chicago. Adam Dunn smashed his 455th career home run and Alexei Ramirez had two hits for the White Sox.

Carroll left a 3-2 sinker up in the second inning against Moustakas, who hammered it out to right for his 11th home run. Carroll worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the third and Dunn’s blast evened it in the fourth before Kansas City broke it open in the sixth.

Billy Butler led off with a double and scored on Ibanez’s double before a passed ball brought home another run. Javy Guerra came on and unleashed a throwing error to plate another run in front of Omar Infante’s sacrifice fly that capped the four-run uprising, and Moustakas put the game away with his two-run shot in the eighth.
