Jazz 112, Thunder 101: Gordon Hayward scored 17 of his career-best 37 points over the final seven minutes and also had 11 rebounds and seven assists to lead host Utah past Oklahoma City.
Hayward was 13-of-16 shooting and scored the Jazz’s final 17 points as Utah won its fourth straight home game. Derrick Favors added 15 points and Marvin Williams tallied 12 points.
Kevin Durant matched a season high – which is also the NBA high for the season -- with 48 points. Reggie Jackson added 20 points for Oklahoma City, which had an eight-game road winning streak halted.
The Thunder battled back from a 24-point third-quarter deficit and were within 99-94 after two free throws by Durant with 4:51 to play. Hayward responded with two 3-pointers in a 27-second span, and his steal and layup with one minute remaining sealed the victory.
The Jazz set a season-best for first-half points while taking a 59-47 lead into the break. Utah then dominated the first 6 1/2 minutes of the third quarter and led 84-60 after a basket by Favors before Oklahoma City closed to within 16 entering the final stanza.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Thunder PF Serge Ibaka missed the contest due to flu-like symptoms. … The Jazz shot 58.8 percent from the field. … Durant had 48 points against Minnesota last Saturday and he scored 42 points in Oklahoma City’s previous visit to Salt Lake City on Oct. 30.
