Carmelo Anthony's 3-pointer with 15.9 seconds remaining put New York ahead for good and gave the visiting Knicks a 99-96 win over the winless Washington Wizards on Friday night.
Anthony scored 37 points, including 10 straight down the stretch for New York (3-4). He came into the game as the league's second leading scorer, averaging 27.8 points.
Washington is the only team without a victory and fell to 0-7 for the first time in franchise history.
The Wizards couldn't hold a 16-point lead in the second quarter, but rallied from an eight-point deficit late in the fourth. John Wall's basket with 47.4 seconds remaining gave Washington a 96-95 lead before Anthony drilled his clutch shot after a Knicks timeout.
Wall missed a 3-pointer and Chris Singleton missed a follow-up shot. After Ian Shumpert split two free throws, the Wizards called timeout, but Nick Young's 3-point attempt from the corner rimmed out.
Young led Washington with 24 points. Wall added 22 points and nine assists.
Amar'e Stoudemire scored 23 points for New York, which had dropped four of previous five.
