Rudy Gay hit the game-winning, buzzer-beating basketto lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 97-95 upset of the visiting Miami Heat on Saturday.
Gay drove to his right and put up a 10-foot jumper over LeBron James as Memphis (5-9) ended a five-game losing streak in dramatic fashion.
Gay went from potential goat to hero in a matter of seconds. He made a costly turnover that allowed Miami (8-5) to tie the contest on James’ layup with 5.5 seconds left before hitting the decisive shot.
Memphis led 95-90 after Mike Conley’s layup with 38.5 seconds left. Miami’s Chris Bosh hit a 3-pointer and then Gay made the costly turnover that set up Miami’s tying basket. Eddie House made the steal and fed James for the layup with 5.5 seconds left.
James scored a game-high 29 points and had 11 assists. Bosh and House each scored 20 for Miami. Bosh grabbed 10 rebounds.
Zach Randolph had 21 points and 13 rebounds while Conley scored 16 points and Gay added 15 for Memphis.
