Connor McDavid extended his multi-point streak to four games with a goal and an assist as the Edmonton Oilers routed the visiting Buffalo Sabres 6-1 on Thursday.
Kailer Yamamoto and Tyson Barrie also each had a goal and an assist for the Oilers, who won their fourth straight. Mike Smith made 27 saves.
Victor Olofsson scored and Craig Anderson made 30 saves for the Sabres, who lost for the first time in three games.
Yamamoto gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead at 7:21 of the first period. McDavid sent a short pass to in the right circle to Yamamoto, who snapped it glove side from one knee.
McDavid doubled it to 2-0 at 13:10. Yamamoto's shot from the slot was blocked by the Sabres and the puck rolled to McDavid in the right circle, where he picked up the loose puck and skated to the net before tucking it in short side.
Leon Draisaitl pushed it to 3-0 at 8:42 of the second period. Anderson stretched the right pad to deny him in front but Draisaitl stuck with the rebound and slid it by the goalie from the left of the net for his 40th of the season. It's the third time Draisaitl has hit the mark in his NHL career.
Darnell Nurse extended it to 4-0 at 13:42 when he picked up the rebound of his own shot inside the left circle and scored far side through traffic.
Olofsson got the Sabres on the board to make it 4-1 at 3:21 of the third period when he blasted a one-timer from the right circle.
Devin Shore made it 5-1 with a short-handed goal at 5:58 and Barrie added one with a one-timer from the left circle on the power play to bring it to 6-1 at 15:36.
The Oilers improved to 20-0-0 when opening the scoring this season, becoming only the second team in NHL history to begin a season with at least 20 straight wins when scoring first.
