Trevor Zegras scored two goals, including a lacrosse-style tally, helping the visiting Anaheim Ducks earn a 5-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.
Troy Terry had a goal and two assists, Cam Fowler had a goal and an assist, Sam Carrick also scored and Kevin Shattenkirk logged two assists for the Ducks, who are 3-0-1 in their past four games. Anaheim's Anthony Stolarz made 36 saves.
Jake Evans scored two goals, Artturi Lehkonen and Laurent Dauphin also scored and Rem Pitlick had two assists for the Canadiens. Montreal's Cayden Primeau made six saves on nine shots before he was replaced after the first period by Sam Montembeault, who stopped 13 of 15 shots.
The Ducks scored two power-play goals in the first period and another at the start of a delayed penalty to build a 3-0 lead.
Carrick gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead at 8:14. He received a pass from Sam Steel as he crossed the Montreal blue line and scored high in the net on the partial breakaway.
Dauphin committed a double-minor high-sticking penalty on Ryan Getzlaf, and the Ducks scored during each penalty to stretch the lead to 3-0.
Getzlaf missed the remainder of the game with an upper-body injury.
Fowler scored on a one-timer at 15:12, just five seconds before the first penalty ended, and Terry made it 3-0 at 17:06, which was 11 seconds before the second penalty expired.
The Canadiens made it 3-1 when Evans scored at 1:15 of the second period, but the Ducks re-established the three-goal lead 10 seconds later.
Zegras skated behind the net and lifted the puck with his stick blade before shoving it into the top right corner as he came out the other side to make it 4-1.
Lehkonen scored a power-play goal at 9:54 of the second to make it 4-2.
Zegras answered again, however, scoring his 12th goal of the season at 14:04 to make it 5-2.
Evans scored at 1:23 of the third period to cut the deficit to 5-3.
Dauphin converted a penalty shot to make it 5-4 at 14:02.
