Carter Verhaeghe scored twice, leading the Florida Panthers to a 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night in Sunrise, Fla.
After taking their first three-game losing streak of the season last week, the Panthers have now stacked three straight wins.
Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, who made 35 saves, improved to 14-5-2 as Florida won without three of their top five scorers. Aleksander Barkov, Patric Hornqvist and Aaron Ekblad are all injured.
The Panthers sustained another injury Tuesday. With 4.7 seconds left in the second period, Florida winger Anthony Duclair, skating at a high speed, was tripped by Red Wings goalie Thomas Greiss. Crashing into the boards, Duclair appeared to injure his left shoulder.
Greiss was penalized.
Florida also got goals from Brett Connolly and Jonathan Huberdeau. It was career goal No. 100 for Connolly.
Detroit got its goal from Filip Zadina.
Red Wings goalie Calvin Pickard, who had won his past two starts, was pulled after allowing three goals in 12:25. He made just five saves.
Greiss replaced Pickard and stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced.
Verhaeghe, who won a Stanley Cup title with the Tampa Bay Lightning last year, leads the Panthers with 17 goals. He has six points in his past three games.
Florida needed just 17 seconds to get on the board as Huberdeau scored from the slot, taking a centering pass from Mason Marchment and waiting until he found an opening between Pickard's pads.
With 11:27 expired in the first, Duclair sped down the ice before hitting the brakes and passing to the trailer, Verhaeghe, who flipped the puck over Pickard's stick.
Then, 58 seconds later, Connolly deflected Gustav Forsling's shot for a 3-0 lead.
Detroit got on the board with 7:29 gone in the second. Dylan Larkin, operating from behind the net, made a sweet pass to Zadina, whose shot from the right circle zipped past Bobrovsky's glove.
The Panthers extended their lead to 4-1 with 12:11 expired in the second. Owen Tippett stole the puck to set up Verhaeghe, who scored a wraparound goal. The puck bounced off Greiss' left arm. Detroit defenseman Filip Hronek tried to bat the puck away from trouble but appeared to help nudge it into the net.
