Connor McDavid scored once in a five-point game, and Leon Draisaitl scored twice and added an assist as the host Edmonton Oilers beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-3 on Wednesday night.
McDavid has 17 points through seven games this season, a feat equaled by in franchise history only by Wayne Gretzky.
Mikko Koskinen stopped 49 shots for the Oilers, who have won six of their seven contests. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had a goal and an assist for Edmonton, which also got goals from Ethan Bear and Brandon Manning.
Jakub Voracek led the Flyers with two goals and an assists. Oskar Lindblom also scored for Philadelphia, and Claude Giroux contributed two assists.
The Oilers needed just 73 seconds to get off and running, when Draisaitl opened the scoring. McDavid picked up a loose puck in the offensive zone and passed across for Draisaitl to bury the chance.
Voracek scored his first goal of the season at 7:36 to pull the Flyers even, but it was essentially all Oilers the rest of the way.
Bear's first goal of the season at 14:52 of the first period put the hosts ahead for good. Bear joined the rush and took a feed as he reached the left circle, then snapped home the puck.
McDavid joined the goal-scoring parade at 12:34 of the second period. He used his blazing speed to gain the puck and slipped it into the cage for his fifth goal of the season.
Nugent-Hopkins made it a 4-1 lead two minutes later when he wired a top-shelf wrister. That tally spelled the end of the game for Flyers starting goalie Carter Hart, who made only 10 saves before being replaced by Brian Elliott.
Draisaitl greeted Elliott with his second goal of the game, a power-play marker at 16:26 of the middle frame. With the Oilers buzzing, Draisaitl found a loose puck at the side of the net and slipped it into the cage for his sixth of the season.
Edmonton didn't stop the pressure in the final period, either, and Manning's first goal of the season at 3:40, a point-shot slapper inside the near post, made it a 6-1 game.
Lindblom and Voracek added late goals for the Flyers, who have lost three straight games after winning their first two.
Elliott stopped six of the eight shots he faced.
