Kings 2, Ducks 1: Jonathan Quick made 10 of his 21 saves in the third period as host Los Angeles withstood a furious late charge and staved off elimination to even its Western Conference second-round series with Anaheim at three games apiece.

Defenseman Jake Muzzin and Trevor Lewis scored for the Kings, who improved to 5-0 in elimination games during this year's playoffs. Anze Kopitar notched an assist to raise his league-leading point total to 17 as the Kings look to win their second Game 7 on the road this postseason when they visit Anaheim on Friday.

Kyle Palmieri netted the lone goal for the Pacific Division-champion Ducks, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Rookie John Gibson turned aside 21 shots but lost for the first time in six NHL decisions.

Los Angeles struck first, using a nifty passing sequence to take a 1-0 lead at 8:16 of the first period. Marian Gaborik dished the puck from along the right-wing boards to Kopitar, who made a cross-slot backhand pass from the bottom of the right faceoff circle to Muzzin on the doorstep for an easy conversion.

Lewis doubled the advantage with 5:56 remaining in the second with a shot from the top of the left circle that sneaked between Gibson's pads, but Palmieri halved the deficit 98 seconds later with a wraparound at the left post. Anaheim made a spirited attempt to get the equalizer late in the third, but Quick made the necessary saves and his teammates blocked several shots to preserve the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles C Jarret Stoll registered a game-high five shots on goal but was kept off the scoresheet for the ninth straight contest. ... Gaborik's assist was his 13th point in 13 games this postseason. ... Neither team was able to cash in on the power play, as Anaheim went 0-for-5 while the Kings were 0-for-4.
