Penguins 5, Islanders 4 (OT): Chris Kunitz scored his second power-play goal of the contest at 8:44 of overtime as visiting Pittsburgh won Game 3 of its Eastern Conference first-round series to seize a 2-1 edge against eighth-seeded New York.

After Sidney Crosby drew a holding penalty on former Penguin defenseman Brian Strait, the captain fed Kunitz from along the end line to collect his third assist on the winning tally. Kunitz made no mistake in the slot by sailing a shot over the glove of Evgeni Nabokov (20 saves) to end the wild affair.

Jarome Iginla converted on a 5-on-3 power play, Kunitz scored 19 seconds later and Pascal Dupuis capped top-seeded Pittsburgh's three-goal first period by tallying for the third time in the series. Defenseman Douglas Murray also scored and Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 32 shots for the Penguins, who will look to push the host Islanders to the brink of elimination in Game 4 on Tuesday.

Kyle Okposo scored for the second straight contest and John Tavares tied the game at 4-4 midway through the third period by using Penguins defenseman Mark Eaton as a screen prior to his wrist shot from the right circle. Matt Moulson and Casey Cizikas staked New York to an early 2-0 lead in the first period.

With the contest knotted at 2-2 late in the first period, Crosby skated up the right wing before his backhanded centering feed was tapped home by Dupuis, who had inside position on Tavares. Murray doubled the advantage with 2:50 left in the second after settling Evgeni Malkin's centering pass in the left circle before wiring a shot inside the right post.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Islanders' furious start was quelled after D Travis Hamonic's tripping penalty put his team at a two-man disadvantage 12:55 into the contest. Iginla put the Penguins on the scoreboard after deflecting D Kris Letang's shot past Nabokov 23 seconds later and Kunitz forged a 2-2 tie after settling Malkin's stretch pass before wristing the puck inside the right post. ... After combining for 18 shots in Game 2, Crosby (four) and Malkin (one) were limited to just five. ... Iginla has recorded at least a point in each game of the series. The veteran, who netted his 29th career postseason goal, has seven points in his last four contests dating back to a two-assist performance versus Carolina on April 27.
