Penguins 7, Canadiens 6 (OT): Brandon Sutter fired a wrist shot that eluded Carey Price’s glove for his second goal of the game just 52 seconds into overtime as visiting Pittsburgh escaped with a rare win in Montreal.

Chris Kunitz and Matt Cooke also scored twice and captain Sidney Crosby added a goal and two assists for the Penguins, who won for the 21st time in 103 away games against the Canadiens. Defenseman Kris Letang recorded four assists and Tomas Vokoun made 33 saves.

Montreal captain Brian Gionta scored a pair of goals - including the tying tally 30 seconds after Crosby gave Pittsburgh a 6-5 lead midway through the third period. Max Pacioretty, Brandon Prust, defenseman P.K. Subban and David Desharnais added goals for the Canadiens, who have collected at least a point in 10 straight games.

Prust and Sutter scored in the opening session to set the stage for a wild six-goal second period. Pacioretty and Kunitz scored before Cooke’s two goals gave Pittsburgh a 4-2 advantage, but Gionta cut the lead to one with a creative deflection while on one skate. Rookie Brendan Gallagher then set up Subban to tie the game in the final second of the period.

After Desharnais gave the Canadiens the lead early in the third, Kunitz forged a 5-5 tie with a one-timer from the high slot that beat Price, who stopped 29 shots. Penguins forward Tyler Kennedy took a cross-checking penalty shortly after Crosby and Gionta traded goals, but Montreal could not capitalize on the power play and finished 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Montreal head coach Michel Therrien faced the Penguins for the first time since being fired by the organization on Feb. 15, 2009. Therrien was replaced by current Penguins coach Dan Bylsma, who won the Stanley Cup that season. … Crosby has 31 points in 21 career games against the Canadiens. … The seven goals allowed by Price set a new season-high for the netminder. Price allowed all six goals in a 6-0 loss to Toronto on Feb. 9 - Montreal’s last regulation loss.
