Danny Briere tied the game late in the third period and scored 2:34 into overtime as the Philadelphia Flyers continued their mastery of the New York Islanders with a 4-3 road triumph on Wednesday.

Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside all 23 shots he faced in relief of Ilya Bryzgalov for Philadelphia, which snapped a modest two-game losing skid by besting the Islanders for seventh straight time and 25th in 27 games.

In overtime, Scott Hartnell exited the penalty box and promptly dropped the puck in the slot to Briere, who wristed a shot past Rick DiPietro for his seventh of the season.

All was not rosy for the Flyers, who saw Jaromir Jagr exit the contest with what general manager Paul Holmgren termed a lower body injury. The 39-year-old Jagr, who returned after a two-game absence with a groin injury, played 10 shifts and logged 7:52 of ice time before departing.

After Kyle Okposo netted his first two goals of the season and set up Michael Grabner to give New York a 3-1 lead, Philadelphia began to chip away against its Atlantic Division rival.

Hartnell scored on the power play 5:24 into the second period for his third goal in as many games and Briere leveled the contest by making DiPietro pay for misplaying the puck after a wild carom off the boards.

DiPietro stopped 29 shots for New York, which has dropped three in a row and 13 of their last 15 (2-9-4).
