Milan Lucic’s power-play goal at the 11:49 mark of the third period snapped a tie and lifted the visiting Boston Bruins to a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.
A night after a 7-0 home win over the Hurricanes, the Bruins had a much more difficult time but never trailed, winning for the fifth time in the last six games. Coming off his league-leading seventh shutout of the season, Tim Thomas stopped 43 shots for Boston.
Boston (26-13-7) jumped to a 1-0 lead just over two minutes into the game on a power-play goal by Johnny Boychuk. Carolina tied the contest on a power-play goal by Jussi Jokinen, his 11th of the season.
After a scoreless second period, Boston regained the lead on a goal by Brad Marchand. Carolina (22-18-6) tied it again on Chad LaRose’s ninth of the season with 10:41 left in regulation.
Cam Ward stopped 25 shots for the Hurricanes, who were 1-for-5 with the man advantage. Boston was 2-for-6.
