No. 15 Kansas State 68, Texas Tech 59: Rodney McGruder collected 18 points and nine rebounds and Angel Rodriguez added 13 points as the visiting Wildcats held off the pesky Red Raiders.
Thomas Gipson added 12 points for Kansas State (18-4, 7-2 Big 12), which won its third straight game overall and its eighth in its last nine road games. The Wildcats dominated on the glass 38-20.
Jordan Tolbert scored 19 points off the bench to lead the Red Raiders (9-11, 2-7), who have dropped seven of their last eight and fell to 9-11 since interim coach Chris Walker took over following Billy Gillispie's resignation. Texas Tech leading scorer Jaye Crockett made a rare start and was limited to four points on 2-for-5 shooting.
Texas Tech hung around in the first half and was within 31-28 before Will Spradling scored six straight points to send the Wildcats to the locker room with a 37-29 lead.
McGruder's jumper capped an 11-2 run and made it 53-40 with 11:16 left, but the Red Raiders had one run left in them. They trimmed it to 58-52 on Dejan Kravic's tip-in with 6:32 left, but McGruder answered with a three-point play and Texas Tech didn't get closer than nine the rest of the way.
