Kristian Doolittle scored 24 points as Oklahoma knocked off No. 13 Kansas 81-68 in Norman, Okla., on Tuesday night.
As the final seconds ticked off the clock, Sooners fans chanted, "The streak is over," referring to the loss eliminating the Jayhawks from the race for the Big 12 title. Kansas won or shared the conference title for the previous 14 years.
Now, the Big 12 title chase is between Texas Tech and Kansas State.
The win might have punched the Sooners' ticket into the NCAA Tournament. They are 19-11 overall and 7-10 in conference play, and their nonconference success figures to help their case for a tournament bid even if they can't win another game before Selection Sunday.
The game was never seriously in doubt after the first five minutes, as Oklahoma opened with a 3-point barrage.
The Sooners hit five 3-pointers in the first eight minutes, including five in a 19-3 run that put Oklahoma ahead 23-7 just 7:33 into the game. Three of those were by sophomore Brady Manek.
Kansas briefly cut the lead to single digits with a 9-0 run shortly after Oklahoma's big push, but the Sooners immediately answered with 10 consecutive points to stretch the lead once again.
Oklahoma's runs were fueled by strong defense, as the Sooners forced a flurry of turnovers. Kansas finished with 15 turnovers, leading to 21 Oklahoma points.
Doolittle's scoring equaled his season high on 7-of-11 shooting. The junior also added 11 rebounds.
Manek scored a season-high 21 points, 15 of those in the first half when Oklahoma shot 53 percent from the floor.
Dedric Lawson and David McCormack each scored 18 for the Jayhawks (22-8, 11-6). Lawson added 11 rebounds.
Kansas shot just 40.9 percent from the floor and 22.6 percent (7 of 31) from behind the 3-point line.
It was the second consecutive season the Sooners beat the Jayhawks at home but the first time since the 1990 Big Eight Tournament that Oklahoma beat Kansas by double figures.
Oklahoma led by as many as 24 in the second half before Kansas closed with a 13-2 run to close the game.
