Rookie Brett Connolly scored 2:30 into overtime as the Tampa Bay Lightning recorded their first five-game home winning streak in four seasons with a 2-1 triumph over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.
In overtime, Dominic Moore skated hard to the net before being denied by goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov. The rebound caromed to Connolly, who wristed the puck into the net for his third goal of the season as Tampa Bay improved to 7-2-0 in its last nine games.
Defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron netted a power-play goal in the third period, Dwayne Roloson turned aside 14 shots and Martin St. Louis played in his 800th career game with the Lightning.
After Scott Hartnell collected his sixth goal in eight games in the first period, Bergeron leveled the contest at 7:41 of the third. With Jakub Voracek in the box serving a tripping penalty, Bergeron's blast from the point sailed over the right shoulder of a screened Bryzgalov.
Philadelphia captain Chris Pronger returned from a six-game absence due to an eye injury, although he was greeted by a chorus of boos by the St. Pete Times Forum faithful for his stall tactic against Tampa Bay's vaunted 1-3-1 defense.
The veteran defenseman, who returned wearing a visor, elected to either remain stationary or skate in small circles while waiting for the closest Lightning member to break from his spot. A cascade of boos rained down as play was reduced to a crawl for several minutes during the first period.
Bryzgalov finished with 22 saves for Philadelphia, which fell to 3-0-2 in its last five games and 4-1-1 away from home this season.
