Quarterback Anthony Brown accounted for 258 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns as No. 3 Oregon pulled away from a halftime tie to defeat Washington State 38-24 on Saturday in Eugene, Ore.
Brown rushed for 123 yards and one score and threw for 135 yards and another touchdown. Byron Cardwell (two touchdowns) and Travis Dye Jr. (one score) ran for 98 and 88 yards, respectively, as the Ducks (9-1, 6-1 Pac-12) amassed 306 yards on the ground to 91 for the Cougars.
Quarterback Jayden de Laura threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns for Washington State, which outgained Oregon 233-157 in the first half en route to a 14-14 tie.
The Ducks wasted little time taking control in the third quarter, however. Brown capped a five-play, 43-yard drive with a 17-yard burst for a 21-14 lead, and Camden Lewis added a 22-yard field goal after 13-play, 91-yard march down the field late in the period.
The Cougars didn't score again until Dean Janikowski's 34-yard field goal with 8:31 left in the game.
Oregon went right back to work, with Cardwell scoring on rushes of 27 yards and 22 yards that came about 3 1/2 minutes apart to extend the lead to 38-17 with 2:07 remaining.
de Laura found Travell Harris for a 2-yard touchdown pass with nine seconds left to complete the scoring.
Washington State's first-half touchdowns came on de Lauria's 14-yard pass to De'Zhaun Stribling midway through the second quarter, and de Lauria's 1-yard run with 11 seconds left before the break.
Oregon finished with 441 total yards to 371 for Washington State.
Oregon, which has a two-game lead on Washington State and Oregon State in the Pac-12 North, travels to face Utah, which is also 6-1, next weekend. Washington goes home to face Arizona.
