Jeremiah Davenport and Mika Adams-Woods each scored 11 points to lead host Cincinnati to a 73-68 victory over visiting Georgia in a nonconference game on Saturday.
Davenport added a team-high seven rebounds and Adams-Woods had a team-high five assists for the Bearcats (2-0), who took control midway through the first half with a 17-0 run and held on for the win.
The Bearcats had a balanced attack in which 10 players scored at least three points, including David DeJulius, who scored 10 points, while Viktor Lakhin and John Newman added nine points apiece.
Cincinnati shot 40 percent from the field but just 20 percent (4-for-20) from 3-point range. But it forced Georgia (1-1) into committing 13 turnovers that the Bearcats converted into 19 points. Cincinnati also outrebounded the Bulldogs 40-31.
Georgia was led by Braelen Bridges, who scored a game-high 24 points on 11-for-15 shooting to go along with a game-high eight rebounds, while Aaron Cook added 10 points and a game-high 10 assists.
The Bulldogs, who also got 13 points and four assists from Jailyn Ingram, shot 48.1 percent from the floor, including 50 percent (7-for-14) from beyond the arc.
After trailing by 15 points midway through the second half, Georgia pulled to within 70-67 with 23.1 seconds left, but the Bearcats secured the win at the free-throw line.
After Bridges' jumper gave Georgia a 19-14 lead with 7:44 left in the first half, the Bearcats took control by going on a 17-0 run during which seven Bearcats scored. DeJulius capped the outburst with a three-pointer that gave Cincinnati a 31-19 lead with 3:11 left in the first half.
Adams-Woods scored seven first-half points and Newman added six, as eight Bearcats scored in the first 20 minutes. Cincinnati shot 40.5 percent from the floor but made just 2 of 10 attempts from beyond the arc en route to taking a 35-26 lead at the half.
Bridges scored 12 first-half-points and Ingram added 11 for the Bulldogs, who shot 48 percent from the floor but turned the ball over 10 times that led to 15 points for the Bearcats.
