Freshman Deebo Coleman scored a career-high 19 points to help Georgia Tech to a 75-66 win over Lamar on Monday in Atlanta.

Coleman was 6-for-8 from the floor, hitting five 3-pointers, and dropped in a layup with 1:13 remaining to put the game away.

Georgia Tech (2-1) also got 15 points from Jordan Usher, 11 of them in the second half, and eight rebounds. Michael Devoe added 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists. The Yellow Jackets had seven different players combine to make 12 3-pointers.

It was the second straight win for the Yellow Jackets after their opening-night loss to Miami (Ohio) and improved their all-time record to 2-0 against Lamar.

Lamar (1-2) was led by Jordyn Adams with 17 points, including three 3-pointers, and Kasen Harrison with 10 points and four assists.

Both teams started slowly -- Georgia Tech was 1-for-7 and Lamar was 1-for-8 -- and the Yellow Jackets held a 4-2 lead at the 14:50 timeout.

The momentum changed quickly. Tech went on a 15-0 run and seized a 17-2 lead on Miles Kelly's bucket at 10:17. The Yellow Jackets went on a 14-5 run -- with Coleman draining three treys -- to push the lead to 22 points for a 31-9 lead with 7:03 left.

The Yellow Jackets led 39-22 at halftime, as Tech outrebounded Lamar 24-15 and limited the Cardinals to 22.2 percent shooting from 3-point range. The Yellow Jackets had 13 assists on 15 made field goals.

Lamar took advantage of Tech's cold shooting to open the second half and cut the lead to 44-38 on Adams' 3-pointer with 13:20 remaining. But Georgia Tech answered with back-to-back 3s from Devoe and Kyle Sturdivant to regain the 12-point lead at 12:25.

Lamar used a 10-0 run and drew to within four points on a pair of free throws from Adams that made it 58-54. But Deivon Smith and Khalid Moore responded with consecutive 3-pointers to regain the double-digit lead and the Cardinals never got closer than seven.

Both teams play again on Friday. Lamar hosts Stetson, while Georgia Tech plays its first road game of the season at rival Georgia.
