Jaylen Nowell scored 20 points and Noah Dickerson added 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds as Washington rallied in the second half for a 72-70 victory against rival Washington State on Saturday night in Pullman, Wash.
The Huskies (20-5, 11-1 Pac-12) trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half and were down 45-36 at halftime.
Sophomore Marvin Cannon had career highs with 25 points and eight rebounds for the Cougars (10-15, 3-9), who had a two-game winning streak snapped after sweeping a trip to Arizona State and Arizona last weekend.
The Cougars seemed to carry that momentum into the Saturday game. Cannon scored 18 points in the first half as Washington State used runs of 8-0 and 10-0 to take a double-digit advantage.
But the Huskies clawed their way back.
Dominic Green made a 3-pointer with 10:43 remaining to tie the score at 54-54, and Nowell followed with a jumper to give the Huskies their first lead since early in the first half.
Robert Franks Jr., the league's leading scorer, gave the Cougars a 62-61 lead on a 3-pointer with 7:55 left, but Washington State went scoreless over the next 4:28, committing five turnovers during that span.
Franks made another 3-pointer with 2:46 left after a Huskies turnover to give Washington State a 67-65 lead. Franks finished with 16 points.
Dickerson made one free throw with 2:23 remaining to pull the Huskies within a point, and a three-point play by Nowell with 1:21 left gave the Huskies a 69-67 lead.
Dickerson tipped in a Nowell missed layup with 24 seconds remaining, and the Huskies held on.
Matisse Thybulle scored nine points for Washington and David Crisp scored eight, despite poor shooting performances. Thybulle was 4 of 11 from the field and Crisp was 3 of 12, although they combined for all eight of the Huskies' steals.
Washington State freshman CJ Elleby, a Seattle native, was limited to five points and was dogged by foul trouble.
