Senior forward Zach Auguste had 24 points and 11 rebounds and Notre Dame pulled away over the final 11 minutes to record an 89-75 victory over North Carolina State on Saturday in Atlantic Coast Conference action at South Bend, Ind.

Freshman forward Matt Ryan made four 3-pointers and scored 17 points for the Fighting Irish (20-10, 11-7 ACC), who made 12 of 26 3-point attempts. Junior guard Demetrius Jackson had 14 points and seven assists and junior guard Steve Vasturia added 13 points.

Junior guard Anthony "Cat" Barber scored 29 points for the Wolfpack (15-16, 5-13). Sophomore forward Abdul-Malik Abu had 20 points and 12 rebounds and sophomore forward Caleb Martin added 16 points.

Notre Dame led by six points at halftime and stretched its lead to 10 on Auguste's basket early in the second half. The Wolfpack responded with a 12-2 surge and tied the score 53-53 on Barber's 3-pointer with 15:03 to play.

The margin was one when freshman guard Rex Pflueger drained back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Fighting Irish a 66-59 lead with 10:09 to play. The long-range shots began a 13-2 run that was culminated by Jackson's 3-pointer to make it a 12-point differential with 8:47 remaining.

Junior forward V.J. Beachem hit a 3-pointer and Vasturia scored on a layup to increase Notre Dame's lead to 85-67 with 4:28 left. The Wolfpack moved within 13 with under three minutes remaining and Jackson's layup and Auguste's dunk put the game away.

North Carolina State played well most of the first half and held a 37-31 advantage after Martin drained a 3-pointer with 3:49 left. The Fighting Irish put forth a strong answer with a half-closing 14-2 burst to take a 45-39 lead into the break.
