No. 17 West Virginia 86, TCU 85 (OT): Freshman Jevon Carter hit two free throws with 0.9 seconds left in overtime to help the Mountaineers escape an upset bid by the visiting Horned Frogs.

Carter, who finished with eight points, was fouled going for a breakaway layup just after TCU's Trey Zeigler had put the Horned Frogs up by one with 1.8 seconds to go. Juwan Staten had 18 points and a career-high 12 assists for West Virginia (16-3, 4-2 Big 12), while Devin Williams added 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Kyan Anderson scored 22 points to lead six double-figure scorers for TCU (14-5, 1-5), while Charles Hill Jr. added a season-high 13 points off the bench. Kenrich Williams had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Horned Frogs, and Amric Fields added 11 and six boards off the pine.

The game was close throughout the first half, with eight lead changes, and West Virginia could manage only a one-point halftime lead. TCU went on a 10-0 run to take a lead late in the second half, but Daxter Miles Jr.'s runner tied the game with 1.1 seconds to go to send the game to overtime.

TCU scored the first four points of the extra period and led by four with 37 seconds to go on Brandon Parrish's free throws, but Miles Jr. hit a 3-pointer to pull the Mountaineers within one. Williams hit one of two free throws with 27 seconds to go to push the Horned Frogs' lead to two, but Miles Jr. hit another 3 — this one with 11 seconds left — to put the Mountaineers up one, setting up the frenetic finish.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hill Jr. hadn't played since Dec. 29 by coaches' decision before his season-best performance. … TCU won the board battle, 47-37, led by Chris Washburn's nine rebounds. … The Mountaineers won despite shooting 6-of-25 from 3-point range.
