No. 19 Villanova 77, Pennsylvania 54: Darrun Hilliard tallied 19 points, including four 3-pointers, and the Wildcats overcame a second-half cold spell to run past the visiting Quakers.
James Bell added 14 and JayVaughn Pinkston managed to score 13 points despite only making one field goal for Villanova (8-0). Bell grabbed eight rebounds while Pinkston had seven.
Miles Jackson-Cartwright led the way with 17 points for the Quakers (2-5), who lost their second straight. Darien Nelson-Henry was the only other player in double figures for Penn with 12.
The Wildcats ran out to a 31-9 lead less than 12 minutes into the game, splashing seven 3-pointers over the course of the run. Penn answered with a 12-0 run, but the Quakers ultimately trailed 46-28 at halftime.
Penn cut the lead to single digits with just under 11 minutes to play, and Villanova made just two field goals in the half’s first 13:55. The Wildcats pulled away late, finishing the game by outscoring the Quakers 21-6 in the final 6:42.
