Scott Wood led five players in double figures with 23 points and host North Carolina State pulled away late for a fifth straight win over in-state rival Wake Forest, 87-76 on Saturday.
C.J. Leslie and C.J. Williams each added 18 points for North Carolina State (17-7, 6-3 ACC).
The Wolfpack broke out of its offensive slump in a big way. North Carolina State had averaged just 57 points over the last three games, but shot 52 percent (31 of 59), including 8 of 15 from beyond the arc against the worst defensive team in the ACC.
It was the Wolfpack's seventh straight home win over Wake Forest and completed a season sweep. North Carolina State cruised to a 70-46 win in Winston-Salem on Jan. 14.
The Demon Deacons (11-12, 2-7) were much more competitive this time. Travis McKie’s 3-pointer forged a 50-50 tie with just over 13 minutes left. But the Wolfpack never trailed after taking control with a 16-5 run that featured a four-point play from Wood and Leslie’s first 3-pointer this season in ACC play.
Wake Forest fought back again and pulled to within 69-64 on a 3-pointer from C.J. Harris with just over six minutes left, but ran out of gas down the stretch. North Carolina State closed it out with an 11-2 run.
Harris scored 21 points and McKie added 13 for Wake Forest, which has lost four straight.
