Minnesota used a balanced scoring attack and scored the game's first 11 points in an 85-56 rout of visiting Mount St. Mary's on Monday.
The Gophers (4-0) played without center Ralph Sampson III, who missed the game because of an ankle injury, but had no problems with the Mountaineers (1-3).
Minnesota had five players in double figures. Austin Hollins led the Gophers with a career-high 14 points while Andre Hollins added 13.
Danny Thompson, who scored Mount St. Mary's first 10 points, paced the Mountaineers with 14.
Minnesota built a 27-6 lead midway through the first half. Kelvin Parker's 3-pointer at the 1:49 mark was the first points for Mount St. Mary's scored by someone other than Thompson.
The Mountaineers trailed 45-13 by that point. Minnesota led 51-18 at halftime.
Mount St. Mary's guard Lamar Trice, a preseason Northeast Conference first-team pick, has yet to play this season because of a suspension.
Trevor Mbakwe, who had a double-double in Minnesota's first three games, had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Sampson was injured blocking a shot in Saturday's game against Fairfield. He is averaging 8.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in three games this season.
