Wizards 106, Pistons 82: John Wall tallied 20 points and 11 assists as host Washington snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Pistons in the first game of a home-and-home set.
Marcin Gortat collected 16 points and seven rebounds and Trevor Ariza chipped in 15 points, six assists and three steals for the Wizards, who won for the fourth time in five games. Bradley Beal, who suffered a bruised knee Friday in Minnesota that was feared to be a more serious injury, was in the starting lineup and scored 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
Greg Monroe scored 14 points and Brandon Jennings added 13 for the Pistons, who wrapped up a three-game road trip with back-to-back losses by a combined 41 points. Josh Harrellson and Will Bynum each added 10 off the bench for Detroit, which hosts the rematch Monday.
The Wizards never trailed, running out to an 11-2 lead before Detroit's first field goal. Washington held the Pistons scoreless during a 14-0 run over the final 4:52 of the half to take a 62-41 advantage into the break.It was more of the same in the second half, as Ariza and Beal got hot from the outside and Detroit couldn't muster a rally. The Wizards led 86-62 entering the final stanza and never let the lead dip below 21 in the fourth despite emptying the bench.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Wall has scored 20 or more points in a career-best six straight games. … Pistons G Rodney Stuckey left in the first quarter with a sore shoulder. … Jennings took a shot to the face in third quarter and had to go to the bench because he was bleeding, but he was able to return to start the fourth quarter.
