Devin Harris had 29 points and nine assists and the New Jersey Nets snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 97-89 victory over the visiting Washington Wizards on Thursday.
Brook Lopez added 18 points for New Jersey as the Nets (7-19) won for the first time since defeating Portland on Nov. 28.
Nick Young scored 22 points for Washington (6-18), which lost its sixth straight game and dropped to 0-13 on the road.
New Jersey led by 17 points at halftime and had to hold off the Wizards after Washington rallied to tie the score at 75 with just under nine minutes remaining. The Wizards trailed 88-87 after a basket by Gilbert Arenas with 1:47 remaining before the Nets put the game away with a 7-0 run.
Arenas had 19 points and nine assists before fouling out. Al Thornton added 18 points for the Wizards.
Kris Humphries had 12 points and 17 rebounds for New Jersey.
Washington played without starters Andray Blatche (hip) and John Wall (knee), their second and third leading scorers.
New Jersey led by 15 points after one quarter and by 55-38 at halftime. Washington shot just 30.6 percent in the first half and 39.7 percent for the game.
