Boris Diaw scored 24 points and D.J. Augustin hit a pair of free throws with 30 seconds to play to give the Charlotte Bobcats an 85-83 victory over the host New Jersey Nets on Wednesday night.
New Jersey led, 79-69, with 4:48 left on a 3-pointer by Travis Outlaw, but the Bobcats finished the game on a 16-4 run for their first win of the season.
Gerald Wallace added 20 points for Charlotte (1-3). Devin Harris scored 19 points for New Jersey, which opened the season with back-to-back wins but have since lost two straight.
Diaw had 17 points in the first half as the Bobcats led by as many as 11 points before settling for a 41-40 halftime edge.
Charlotte tied the game at 81 on a tip-in by Nazr Mohammed with 2:06 to play. Stephen Jackson hit a pair of free throws with 1:35 to play to give the Bobcats the lead before Brook Lopez tied it at 83 with a tough hook shot in the lane 16 seconds later.
Augustin's free throws closed the scoring. New Jersey missed three potential tying shots in the final seconds, with the horn sounding during a mad scramble for the ball. Lopez appeared to suffer a shoulder injury when Augustin fell on him.
