Nationals 3, Mets 2: Jordan Zimmermann allowed an unearned run in 6 1/3 innings and Kevin Frandsen avenged an earlier miscue with the go-ahead sacrifice fly in the seventh as Washington won its 10th consecutive contest at Citi Field.

Asdrubal Cabrera provided insurance with a solo homer in the eighth for the Nationals, who have won 24 of their last 28 in Queens and remained five games ahead of second-place Atlanta in the National League East. Wilson Ramos collected two hits and Bryce Harper lifted a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

Travis d'Arnaud led off the ninth against Rafael Soriano with a homer to trim Washington's lead to 3-2 and New York promptly put runners in scoring position with one out. Shortstop Ian Desmond threw out Matt den Dekker at the plate on a force before Soriano induced Curtis Granderson to ground out, securing his 27th save.

With the Mets nursing a 1-0 lead, Adam LaRoche doubled to lead off the seventh and advanced to third on a single by Desmond, who alertly gained second base on an overthrow. Harper's fly to right plated LaRoche before Frandsen stepped up two batters later and sent an 0-1 slider from Bartolo Colon (11-10) into left to easily score Desmond.

After settling for a no-decision in his last meeting with the Mets on Thursday, Zimmermann (8-5) scattered five hits to pick up the victory. Colon was saddled with the hard-luck loss after permitting two runs - one earned - on six hits while striking out eight in seven innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington matched a franchise record of dominance against a particular opponent with the win Wednesday. The then-Montreal Expos also won 10 in a row at the Chicago Cubs from 1982-83. ... New York drew first blood with two outs in the fourth as Frandsen - a converted infielder - dropped a routine fly ball by d'Arnaud in left field, allowing 1B Lucas Duda to score from first. ... Mets 3B David Wright extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a single to left in the first but was thrown out at second to end the inning. Wright added a two-out single in the eighth. ... Washington RF Jayson Werth, the NL Player of the Month for July, sat out on Wednesday and is expected to miss a few more games after receiving a cortisone injection for his sore right shoulder.
