Indians 5, Yankees 3: Michael Brantley homered among his three hits and had three RBIs and Nick Swisher hit a go-ahead two-run shot as host Cleveland defeated New York.
Trevor Bauer (3-4) allowed three runs (two earned) and four hits to go with six strikeouts as the Indians won for the fifth time in seven games. Bryan Shaw worked a flawless eighth and Cody Allen struck out two in a perfect ninth for his 10th save.
Brantley twice delivered run-scoring doubles as Cleveland rocked Masahiro Tanaka (12-4) for five runs and 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings. Both the runs and hits were the most allowed this season by Tanaka, who has lost three of his last four starts.
The Yankees had a 3-1 lead before Brantley smacked a two-out RBI double to left in the fifth. Lonnie Chisenhall singled to start the sixth and Swisher followed with a booming blast over the right-center field fence to put the Indians ahead.
Brantley hit a two-out homer over the wall in right-center in the seventh to make it a two-run margin. The Yankees went down meekly in the ninth against Allen while losing for just the second time in six games.
