Orioles 6, White Sox 4: Chris Davis launched a three-run, pinch-hit homer with one out in the ninth inning as Baltimore extended visiting Chicago’s losing streak to five games.

Steve Pearce singled to start the ninth and Adam Jones was hit by a pitch from Ronald Belisario (3-4) before Davis came up one out later and smashed a full-count offering deep into the stands in right field. Brad Brach (1-0) pitched two hitless innings as the Orioles won their third straight outing.

Jose Abreu homered and had three RBIs as the White Sox suffered their eighth consecutive road loss. Chicago ace Chris Sale was touched up for a career-worst 11 hits but allowed only two runs in six innings, while Baltimore starter Wei-Yin Chen yielded three runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Adam Jones hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give the Orioles the early lead against Sale. The White Sox bounced back on Abreu’s run-scoring grounder in the third and tied the game in the sixth when Abreu slugged his 22nd homer, a shot over the center-field fence.

Conor Gillaspie gave Chicago a 3-2 lead later in the sixth when Baltimore left fielder Nelson Cruz was unable to hang on to the ball after a diving attempt for a double and Abreu added a run-scoring double in the seventh. Caleb Joseph homered in the eighth to bring the Orioles within a run.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Joseph and DH Delmon Young each had three hits as the Orioles had 15 overall. … Chicago CF Adam Eaton went 1-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to 10 games and has reached base in 18 consecutive contests. … Davis was held out of the lineup due to the presence of Sale on the mound and a deep slump in which he was batting just .187 in June prior to his game-winning blast.
