Angels 6, Astros 2:
Chris Iannetta homered and drove in two in support of Jered Weaver as visiting Los Angeles jumped out early and held off Houston.

Weaver (10-8) allowed two runs on six hits in six innings to reach double figures in wins for the eighth straight season. Howie Kendrick and Kole Calhoun each added an RBI double for the Angels, who have won 16 of their last 22 games.

Brett Oberhotlzer (4-3) was reached for four runs on six hits in six innings to suffer his second straight loss as the Astros had a four-game winning streak come to an end.

Iannetta got thing started in the third inning by ripping a 1-1 changeup from Oberholtzer out to left-center. Los Angeles gave Weaver all the support he would need in a three-run fourth as Kendrick and Calhoun delivered back-to-back run-scoring doubles and Iannetta followed with an RBI single.

Houston got two runs back in the bottom of the fourth on Brett Wallace’s two-run homer but Grant Green scored on a passed ball in the seventh and J.B. Shuck delivered a sacrifice fly in the ninth to restore the four-run lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Oberholtzer’s outing marked the second time in eight starts that the rookie failed to notch a quality start. … Calhoun extended his hitting streak to seven games and has recorded eight RBIs in that span. … Angels CF Mike Trout went 0-for-3 with two walks and a run scored, lowering his batting average to .332. He is second in the AL behind Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera (.348).
