Astros 2, Athletics 1 (11): Carlos Corporan ripped an RBI double in the 11th inning as visiting Houston defeated Oakland for the second straight day.
After left fielder Robbie Grossman's leaping catch denied Chris Young of a game-ending homer in the 10th inning, Houston carried that momentum into the top of the 11th. Jose Altuve got aboard on a one-out single before Corporan hit a first-pitch fastball from Sean Doolittle (3-4) into center to plate the go-ahead run.
Brandon Moss delivered an RBI double to forge a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning for the Athletics, who fell two games behind first-place Texas in the American League West.
Lucas Harrell (6-13) retired the side in order in the 10th to pick up the win. Josh Fields worked around Eric Sogard's leadoff double in the 11th, striking out two to secure his second save.
After the teams combined for eight hits over six scoreless innings, Chris Carter led off the seventh by belting a first-pitch fastball from Jarrod Parker over the wall in left field for his team-leading 22nd homer - and third in five contests. Moss answered in the bottom of the frame by ripping a double to left that plated Yoenis Cespedes.
