Pirates starter Wandy Rodriguez (6-4) left in the first inning with tightness in his left forearm and was scheduled to fly back to Pittsburgh to be examined. He was charged with one run on two hits and recorded only one out.
Chris Johnson's RBI fielder's choice in the first put the Braves on top and Gattis and Laird hit solo shots in the sixth. Freddie Freeman and Dan Uggla added RBIs in the seventh.
