Rockies 7, Diamondbacks 5 (13): Chris Nelson ignited a four-run 13th inning with an RBI single as Colorado halted its nine-game road losing streak and avoided its first 100-loss season.
Charlie Blackmon collected four hits and an RBI while Wilin Rosario belted a solo home run for the Rockies (63-97), who entered having scored a total of one run in their previous 32 innings.
After Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt forged a 3-3 tie with a one-out solo blast in the ninth, Nelson followed Tyler Colvin's leadoff ground-rule double in the 13th with a run-scoring single off Brad Bergesen (2-1). Blackmon and Jonathan Herrera each drove in a run later in the frame while Matt McBride scored on a wild pitch to cap the uprising.
Josh Outman (1-3) picked up the win despite allowing two runs in the bottom of the 13th and Josh Roenicke recorded the final two outs for his first career save.
Aaron Hill and Gerardo Parra also hit solo homers for the Diamondbacks. Parra's shot was his first since June 19, ending a 70-game drought.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Rosario's homer was his 28th of the season, tops among major league catchers and National League rookies. ... Diamondbacks starter Wade Miley struck out the side on nine pitches in the third inning, joining Randy Johnson and Byung-Hyun Kim as the only Arizona pitchers to accomplish the feat. Miley finished with a career-high 10 strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings. ... Diamondbacks 3B Chris Johnson went 0-for-5 with an RBI as he was in the lineup for the first time since Sept. 23 because of a bruised hand.
