Aaron Altherr went 4-for-5 with two home runs and matched his career best of five RBIs to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 14-2 rout of the visiting Miami Marlins on Friday night.

Altherr also scored three runs while recording the fourth multi-homer outing of his career. Carlos Santana had three hits and three runs scored, Roman Quinn homered and drove in three runs while Rhys Hoskins and Mitch Walding also went deep for the Phillies.

Philadelphia racked up 18 hits while breaking a five-game losing streak and winning for just the third time in 12 games. The Phillies are still 7 1/2 games behind first-place Atlanta in the National League East after the Braves beat the Washington Nationals later Friday.

J.T. Realmuto homered for the Marlins, who lost their fourth straight game and sixth in their past seven.

Philadelphia right-hander Zach Eflin (10-7) allowed one run and five hits over 6 1/3 innings to break a three-start losing skid. Eflin struck out four and walked one.

Marlins left-hander Wei-Yin Chen (6-11) gave up five runs and seven hits in four innings. He struck out four and walked two.

Altherr started the onslaught with a two-run blast in the second inning when he sent a full-count changeup from Chen over the left field fence. Two outs later, Quinn belted a first-pitch fastball over the fence in left to make it 3-0.

Altherr made a heads-up baserunning play in the fourth when the Phillies scored two runs on Quinn's bases-loaded fielder's choice grounder to second. Miami forced Scott Kingery at second, but the throw to first was late. Santana easily scored from third, and Altherr never stopped in his dash from second and scored to make it 5-0.

Altherr was back in power mode in the fifth inning. Jose Bautista and Santana were aboard on walks when Altherr came up with one out and hammered a 2-1 fastball over the fence in left to give the Phillies an eight-run lead.

The Marlins got on the scoreboard with one out in the sixth inning when Realmuto slugged Eflin's first-pitch over the fence in center.

The Phillies answered with three in the bottom of the frame, the first two coming when Hoskins deposited a 2-1 fastball over the fence in left for his 31st homer of the campaign. Bautista followed with a double and scored on a single by Wilson Ramos to make it 11-1.

Marlins catcher Bryan Holaday pitched the bottom of the eighth and allowed three runs on a run-scoring double to Bautista and a two-run homer by Walding, the first hit of his career.
