Yankees 3, Mariners 2: Jacoby Ellsbury ripped the go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning to extend his hitting streak to 14 games as visiting New York defeated Seattle for the first time this season.

Carlos Beltran belted a two-out RBI double in the first inning among his two hits for the Yankees, who were outscored by a 20-7 margin en route to losing three to the Mariners at home. Brian McCann followed with a run-scoring infield single and Derek Jeter had two hits and two runs scored in the victory.

Cole Gillespie recorded an RBI single in the first inning and Dustin Ackley tied the game with one of his own in the seventh for the Mariners, who suffered just their second loss in 10 contests. Former Yankee Robinson Cano went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to eight games.

Jeter blasted a ground-rule double with one out in the eighth to chase starter Hisashi Iwakuma (4-3), who permitted three runs on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings. Ellsbury greeted reliever Charlie Furbush by depositing an 0-2 fastball into right-center field to plate Jeter and give New York a 3-2 lead.

Dellin Betances (4-0) picked up the win despite allowing one run on two hits in 1 1/3 innings in relief of starter Vidal Nuno. Adam Warren bridged the gap to David Robertson, who struck out three while walking one in the ninth for his 15th save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: New York RF - and former Seattle star - Ichiro Suzuki failed to get a hit in four at-bats after going 4-for-9 in his previous three games. ... Beltran plated Jeter with a line drive to left field and McCann gave New York a 2-0 lead as Seattle SS Brad Miller's throw pulled 1B Willie Bloomquist off the bag, allowing Mark Teixeira to score. ... Mariners RF Michael Saunders (shoulder) returned to the starting lineup for the first time in four games and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.
